If you can't quite decide where to stay in Zante, just plan to hire a car for a few days and every direction you'll take will acquaint you with the island's diverse aspects be it its mountainous region in the west, fertile plains in the east and an amazing sprinkle of excellent beaches, some of which with pure white sand lapped by the most amazingly clear blue sea. Sightseeing opportunities are plentiful and take in the pretty (and very popular) Smuggler's Cove, picturesque inland villages and the beautiful Blue Grotto towards the northern tip of the island. Visitors to Zante will also be made aware of the egg-laying loggerhead turtles on the beachesof the southern coast where strict restrictions apply to ensure the vital protection of these endangered species.
